§ 11.20.01. Mechanical code adopted.

There is hereby adopted by the city council, the state mechanical code, as recommended by the Southern Building Code Congress, being particularly the 1997 edition, or latest edition, thereof, save and except such portions as amended in section 11.20.02. These rules and regulations are adopted in an attempt to ensure safe mechanical installations, including alteration, repair, replacements, equipment, appliances, fixtures, fittings and appurtenances thereto so as to safeguard life, health and public welfare.

For the purpose of this chapter, the building official, his or her assistants, or any individual assigned by the mayor, shall be the "administrative authority" authorized to enforce the provisions of the mechanical code.
