A person convicted of a violation of this chapter shall be punished by a fine not exceeding fifty dollars ($50.00), unless a violation of this chapter is also a misdemeanor under state law, in which case, the penalty for the violation shall be as prescribed by state law for the state offense.

The imposition of a penalty under this chapter does not prevent revocation or suspension of a license, permit or franchise, and the request for or imposition of a penalty hereunder does not prevent the simultaneous request for granting of equitable relief in appropriate cases.
