§ 7.36.02. Permit requirements and fees.

  • A.

    It shall be unlawful for any person to engage in peddling or solicitation activities within the city without first obtaining a permit issued by the city at city hall.

    B.

    Every person subject to the provisions of this chapter shall file with the city an application in writing on a form to be furnished by the city, which shall provide the following information:

    1.

    Proof of age, address and identification of the applicant, to be provided through the applicant's driver's license, articles of incorporation, or other legally recognized form of identification;

    2.

    A brief description of the business or activity to be conducted;

    3.

    If employed, the name, address and telephone number of the employer; or if acting as an agent, the name, address and telephone number of the principal who is being represented, with credentials in writing form establishing the relationship and the authority of the employee or agent to act for the employer or principal, as the case may be; and

    4.

    A statement as to whether or not the applicant has been convicted of a felony, misdemeanor or ordinance violation (other than traffic violations), the nature of the offense or violation, the penalty or punishment imposed, the date when and place where such offense occurred, and other pertinent details thereof.

    C.

    At the time the application is filed with the city, a permit fee in the amount of fifteen dollars ($15.00) shall be required for each solicitor and/or peddler making application. If an individual serves as a solicitor and/or peddler for more than one organization, a permit fee and separate application must be filed for each organization. All permits issued under the provisions of this chapter shall expire one-year from the date of issuance.

    D.

    There shall be a three-day waiting period after the application before the permit will be issued for the purpose of the city reviewing the application as deemed necessary to ensure the protection of the public health, safety and general welfare.
